Full Description: With its surrounding buildings demolished, the former airbase control tower now stands alone and derelict. It was built in the 1950s, with the octagonal observation level being added later by the USAF. Plans were drawn up in the 1990s for the to become the centrepiece of a visitor centre, but they had not come to fruition by 2003.
